23 cases have been confirmed on Saturday and a further 11 cases are under investigation, according to the latest update from the UKHSA health authority, Sky News reports.
The contagious bacterial disease has previously been found among students at four schools in southeast England, and in one student in London.
4,500 people have been vaccinated, and 10,500 doses of antibiotics have been distributed, authorities say.
“We remain vigilant for new cases and are working closely with the NHS and local authorities across the country to ensure enhanced surveillance is in place,” said Ben Rush of UKHSA.
Two young women have previously died. The outbreak has been traced to a nightclub in Canterbury in connection with a student event.
