Since the green self-releasing buckle was introduced, the number of serious accidents and deaths when children get caught in their helmets has decreased.
But according to a survey from Folksam, use among children under seven years of age has decreased from 66 percent in 2022 to 56 percent this year. The survey shows that awareness of the buckle has decreased among parents.
"There is a clear recommendation, but the results of this survey show that the message is not reaching all parents. Here, both the industry and authorities need to do more for children's safety," says Helena Stigson, research manager at Folksam, in a press release.
