Moose hunting from a snowmobile investigated as a serious hunting crime

The police are investigating a suspected serious hunting crime outside Tärendö in Pajala, reports NSD.

According to the newspaper, police have found traces at slaughter sites that allow them to conclude that elk hunting was carried out by hunters using at least two scooters. They are said to have been used to pursue and shoot two elk.

According to the police, who conducted hunting surveillance in the area on Saturday, the hunters had tried to hide the hunt by driving over the moose tracks.

The incident is being investigated as a serious hunting crime, which can result in a prison sentence of six months to four years, as well as revocation of the firearms license.

The police in Norrbotten are appealing for tips about the incident from the public.
