The Pittsburgh newspaper Post-Gazette reports that Odelein died following a heart attack on Friday night. He was 58 years old.

“The entire Canadiens organization is saddened by the news that Lyle Odelein has passed away,” Montreal wrote on social media.

Odelein played most of his career in Montreal, where he won the Stanley Cup in 1993, but he also played for clubs such as New Jersey and Columbus. He played 1,056 NHL games over 16 seasons before he was forced to end his career in 2006 because of a knee injury.
