The Swedish long jumper Thobias Montler receives a pleasant form message ahead of the Olympics.
At a competition in Italy on Wednesday evening, he jumped 8.01 – a new season best for Montler, who missed the European Championship in athletics due to injury concerns with his Achilles tendon.
He thereby surpassed his previous top mark for the season of 7.88, from the Swedish Championships at the end of June.
Already in the first round, the 8.01 jump came, which also secured victory in the competition in Celle Ligure, Italy.
Montler has a fourth place from the Olympics in Rio 2016 – and at the Olympics in Tokyo, he was again close to the medals, but his giant jump in the final round turned out to be a foul and he finished seventh in the final.
The Olympics in Paris opens on July 26.
