The jury's citation highlights "outstanding lyric writing" and a life's work "whose words continue to be sung by new generations."
As a lyricist, Monica Forsberg has taken part in Melodifestivalen with twelve entries - two of them winning songs. "Dag efter dag" with Chips in 1982 and "Främling" with Carola in 1983 were chosen to represent Sweden in Eurovision.
"I feel both honoured and moved to receive this award. When I started writing lyrics in the 70s, I mostly thought I would try to cobble something together myself - and so it was the beginning of a whole life with words and music," Forsberg says in a press release.
The award will be presented on November 6.
