Mollie O'Callaghan has written herself into the history books. The Australian is the first woman to swim 200 meters freestyle on short course under 1.50.

The new world record time on 200 meters freestyle on short track was recorded at 1.49,77 during a World Cup competition in Westmont, Illinois.

21-year-old Mollie O'Callaghan thus became the first woman to swim under 1.50 on the distance on short track.

I am in ecstasy. I knew I had it in me, I believed in myself, says O'Callaghan according to SVT.

The previous world record (1.50,31) was held by Siobhan Haughey, Hong Kong, who during the World Championship 2021 beat Sarah Sjöström's then world record.
