The player, through his defense attorney, has decided to appeal the verdict.
The convicted player will not be part of Molde's squad until further notice.
"As an employer, Molde Football Club has a responsibility to take care of our employees, while at the same time having great respect for the seriousness of the matter and the burdens this entails for all parties concerned," the club writes in a statement.
