HV71 reduced to 3–2 with more than 18 minutes left to play. The third period thus became a nail-biter, as the away team chased an equalizer.
But there was never a 3–3 goal from HV71.
Modo took their second straight win in the qualifying round, and leads 2–0 in matches.
I'm glad we're in this situation right now, and now we'll continue to the third match, says Modo's 2–0 scorer Riley Woods to TV4.
Halfway through the match, Modo led with a clear 3–0.
With a few minutes left to play in the second period, HV71 reduced to 3–1 via Joona Luoto. Early in the second period came 3–2, and the tension rose.
But the away team didn't get any closer than that.
I still think there are things we can take with us from minute 20 and onwards, says Anton Blomqvist, HV71's coach.
The crucial third qualifying match is played on Wednesday at Husqvarna Garden.
I hope and believe it will be sold out, and then we'll be ready to roll, says Blomqvist.
