In theory, Modo could catch up with Linköping just above the relegation line.
But then Modo must take in three points and 21 goals in the final round.
A nearly impossible situation.
We're taking a break tomorrow, and then of course the work begins on Monday. After the Tuesday match, we'll close the regular season and focus on what's to come, says Karlin.
Two Quick Goals
Modo made a strong start at home against Timrå and led 2–0 after just 3.36, with Oscar Pettersson and Riley Woods scoring goals.
Timrå reduced the lead through Filip Hållander, but Modo regained their two-goal lead in the second period when Mattias Norlinder scored 3–1.
In the third period, Johan Södergran then made it 4–1. In the end, Modo won 6–3, with Oscar Pettersson, who scored the final goal in an empty net, becoming a two-goal scorer.
Modo will face bottom-placed HV71 in the relegation playoffs, which start next Friday.
The winner of the best-of-seven matches will remain in the SHL, while the loser will be relegated to HockeyAllsvenskan.
Timrå missed the chance to climb to a top-six spot and direct qualification for the quarterfinals in the SM playoffs with their loss.
Timrå, in seventh place, has a two-point lead over sixth-placed Rögle and three points over fifth-placed Skellefteå ahead of the final round on Tuesday.
Chance for the Playoffs
Malmö's 4–2 win away against Örebro not only means that the team secured a new contract, but the Skåne team also still has a chance to reach the eighth finals.
Going into the final round, one point separates them from the final playoff spot held by Örebro. Even Leksand, two points ahead, can be overtaken.
