"Nothing is more important than the well-being and future of our youth," Modi said in a post on the X platform.
"Those who try to harm the future of our young people will not be spared."
The protests gained momentum in May when dissatisfaction arose over shortcomings in the education system, after more than two million students were forced to retake the medical school entrance exam.
In recent days, the protests have grown stronger and the demonstrators are demanding, among other things, the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
