Prime Minister Modi has clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during the entire sequence of events was there any discussion, at any level, about an India-US trade agreement, or any proposal for US mediation between India and Pakistan, says the Indian top diplomat Vikram Misri.
Donald Trump claimed after four days of hostilities in May that the two Asian nuclear powers had agreed to end the escalating warfare after "a long night of talks with US mediation".
According to Misri, India only spoke directly with each other, at the request of Pakistan.
