This was announced by India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday after the two leaders met during the Brics Summit in New Delhi.
Xi's visit to India is the first since 2019 and a major step in the cautious rapprochement between the countries in recent years.
This follows the deadly clashes in 2020 between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the disputed border area along the Himalayan mountain range.
During their meeting, Modi and Xi expressed a willingness to work for "a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the border issue," the Indian Ministry of External Affairs wrote in a statement.
