Moderna Museet director Gitte Ørskou has been invited on a trip to Doha, Qatar. She was invited by the emir's sister, Princess Al Mayassa bint Al Thani, to participate in a celebration of art institutions and stayed for five days at a luxury hotel at no cost, ETC reports.
Gitte Ørskou says it is not a bribe:
Our policy is that we accept trips where the organizer offers to cover the costs, she tells ETC.
Olle Lundin, professor of administrative law at Uppsala University and an expert on corruption, is not as sure.
It's always a problem when government officials get paid for it. If Moderna Museet thinks it's a great idea for her to go to Qatar and look at these museums, the museum should pay for it itself, he says.
