FedEx and UPS will ground their MD-11 aircraft after the plane crash in Kentucky, which killed 14 people.

It was on Wednesday that a cargo plane belonging to the package distribution company UPS crashed in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. 14 people died and several were seriously injured.

Now all MD-11 planes, which make up around a tenth of the company's fleet, will be grounded "as a precaution." Logistics company FedEx is also halting its flights with the same aircraft model.

The decision was made on the recommendation of aircraft manufacturer Boeing and is described by the companies as “temporary.” It is not clear from the companies’ statements when traffic with the aircraft model can resume.
