Björn Arfvidsson, head of collections at the Cultural Heritage Center in Växjö, received a call from an anonymous number this summer. An anonymous man told him that he had the bronze head. “It’s heavy as hell,” the man said.
The stolen goods were then returned and were found to be well preserved.
The stolen bronze head has long since been replaced by a copy, which was possible to make because the sculptor Oliver Weerasinghe still had the mold. This means there are two heads and it is not yet decided what will happen to the original now that it has been returned.
