The former Bellator- and ONE Championship-champion Ben Askren tells that he does not remember anything between May 28 and June 2.

He had then been affected by acute pneumonia and fought for his life.

I do not remember anything from those days. No memory at all, he says and continues:

I died four times. My heart stopped for about 20 seconds.

Askren underwent a double lung transplant and stayed in the hospital for over a month according to New York Times. He is now on the road to recovery but has a long journey ahead of him.

I stood on the scale yesterday and weighed 66 kilos. So little have I not weighed since I was 15 years old. I have lost 23 kilos in 45 days. It has been a struggle.
