Mjällby's tough start to the season was blown away during the first half at Strandvallen.
After just five minutes of play, BP goalkeeper Leo Cavallius had to retrieve the ball from his own net after Mjällby midfielder Ludwig Thorell had put it there, 1–0, Mjällby's first Allsvenskan goal of the season.
Jacob Bergström then increased the lead, and Abdoulie Manneh made it 3–0 before halftime.
The second half was muted, with the home team able to control a goalless second half that produced few chances.
Meanwhile, IFK Göteborg drew 1–1 away to Halmstad and both teams took their first points of the year. Tobias Heintz saved the point with his equalizer for “Blue and White”.
