This summer Mjällby will qualify for the Champions League, and hopes of playing at home at Strandvallen are growing.

Sölvesborg Municipality has decided to invest just over two million SEK to expand Strandvallen together with Mjällby AIF.

"We don't know if UEFA will approve the plans. But it could be a possibility with the European Games at Strandvallen this summer," says municipal councilor Birgit Birgersson-Brorsson (S) to SVT Nyheter Blekinge.

"The big requirement is more seating – we are aiming for an additional 600 seats."

Other adjustments that will be made include improving the roof protection and the media areas. This can be done during the Allsvenskan.

The Allsvenskan starts in early April. Swedish champions Mjällby begin the Champions League qualifying round in July.
