Mjällby coach Karl Marius Aksem could hardly believe it when Abdullah Iqbal was dropped from the starting lineup for Thursday's Allsvenskan match. The defender was diagnosed during the warm-up.

Six players were already missing for various reasons, including Axel Norén, Viktor Gustafson, Tom Pettersson and Elliot Stroud, who was on World Cup duty.

"We have lost seven players in seven days. That must be a world record. It is a challenge we are taking on, now the whole squad will be tested," Karl Marius Aksem told TV4 Play before the match.

Elfsborg dominated initially and took an early lead through Leo Östman. But Mjällby came back, and shortly after the break, Dane Jeppe Kjær scored the equalizer that gave Mjällby a point.
