Mjällby has its first Allsvenskan gold within reach. Then the club releases the Nigerian striker Silas Nwankwo already before the contract has expired.

Now it will not have any sporting impact. Nwankwo has not played a minute this season.

He came to the club in 2022 and made eight goals in the first season. Then he suffered a cruciate ligament injury. After nine goals in 42 matches, Nwankwo leaves Mjällby.

"Both Mjällby and Silas have agreed to find a new club and football challenge for Silas in 2025. Unfortunately, we have not found a club that suits both parties. When the last transfer window is now closed, we agree that it is better for Silas to go home and find his new football environment. We thank Silas for his efforts in the yellow jersey", says Mjällby's sports manager Hans Larsson to the club's website.
