The team from Listerlandet needed 18 minutes to break the deadlock. Áki Samuelsen received the ball just outside the penalty area and scored the opening goal. Minutes later, Samuelsen scored again.
"The second goal was better, it was a good first half from us. We are a good team so now we will continue so that we have good conditions for the next match," said Samuelsen at halftime.
The home team, with World Cup player Elliot Stroud rumoured to be on his way out, poured on the pressure and extended the lead to 3-0 through Jacob Bergström. Sports director Hasse Larsson admitted that Stroud is close to a move.
Hopefully it will be resolved with some club so he can fly on, Larsson tells Aftonbladet.
In the second half, Mjällby had the chance to kill the tie completely. But Samuelsen, who had the chance for a hat-trick, missed the penalty and the match ended 3-0.
If Mjällby win the tie - the return leg will be played next week in Gibraltar - then the winner will be drawn between reigning Georgian champions Iberia Tbilisi and reigning Slovak champions Slovan Bratislava. The latter team won the first leg 2-0.
