After the SM gold, Mjällby's football men will qualify for the Champions League for the first time. But the club is not allowed to play any qualifying matches at home at Strandvallen, reports Aftonbladet.

The reason is that the locker rooms are to be rebuilt.

The renovation has been planned for three years and during the time we will now have provisional locker rooms and press rooms. But Uefa does not allow that in Europe, says club manager Jacob Lennartsson to the newspaper.

The club was aware that the arena would not suffice for the entire qualification, but hoped that the arena would be approved for qualification rounds one and two. It does not seem to be the case.

Our arena is built "in the past" and is not the most modern. We love Strandvallen but we cannot meet all their requirements and we have to accept that. Now we have to make the best of it, says Lennartsson.

Mjällby has looked at several alternative playing venues, according to Aftonbladet, much suggests Öster's home ground in Växjö.

Qualification for Champions League starts in July.
