Mjällby has finished fifth in the top division as its best, both in 2020 and last year, but this year the club from Listerlandet seems to have something bigger going on.

After two initial draws, Mjällby has racked up wins. The fifth came when "Blåvitt" visited Strandvallen and Nicklas Røjkjær scored the only goal of the match before the half-hour mark.

The three-pointer means that Mjällby takes over the league lead from AIK, who earlier on Sunday had to settle for 1–1 in the away derby against Djurgården.

We've been talking about having a better season than last season, I think many people laughed at that before the season. The hope is that we can be in it all the way and fight for it, says Elliot Stroud in the Max broadcast.

Directly after the final whistle, he didn't know about AIK's point drop, but the home fans helped him out.

I heard the fans screaming that Mjällby is the best in the top division, so I assume that's us (leading) right now, he says with a laugh.

Both Mjällby and AIK have 17 points after seven rounds. Hammarby is lurking one point behind after a convincing 3–0 away win against Öster. All the goals were scored within a span of 20 minutes at the end of the first half, when Paulos Abrahams' 1–0 was followed by two quick goals from Nahir Besara.
