Because Strandvallen does not meet the standards required by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for matches in the Conference League’s league phase, Mjällby is forced to play its European matches at Olympia in Helsingborg.
The team felt at home there. After a goalless first half, Jacob Bergström opened the scoring in the 54th minute after the away goalkeeper made a simple save from a shot by Jeppe Kjær.
Eleven minutes later, centre-back Axel Norén headed in the 2–0, which proved to be the final score.
Mjällby won a sensational Swedish Championship title last year, but things have been tougher this year. The team is 12th in the league, four points off a qualifying spot with seven games left to play. The reigning cup champions were also recently knocked out in the qualifying round for next year’s cup group stage.
