A bit up in Japan, mainly down in Shanghai, Hong Kong and South Korea – the development of indexes on leading Asian stock exchanges went in different directions in the initial hours of trading on Thursday.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index stood at plus 0.2 percent and the broader Topix up half a percent.
In Shanghai and Shenzhen, the composite indexes were down 0.4 and 0.9 percent, respectively. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was down 0.8 percent.
In South Korea, the Kospi index showed a decline of 0.9 percent.
