NHL star Mitch Marner has also signed a long contract that applies over the 2032–2033 season, worth a total of more than 900 million kronor. At the same time, forward Nicolas Roy is moving in the opposite direction.
Marner has played nine seasons in Toronto and scored a total of 741 points in 657 matches. Last season, the 28-year-old forward broke the 100-point mark for the first time when he was credited with 27 goals and 75 assists in the regular season.
A megastar who, on the other hand, will stay with his club is Florida's Brad Marchand. The 37-year-old has extended his contract by a full six years.
Marchand made a comeback just before the end of the season after a tough injury but was still crucial for Florida's Stanley Cup title with 20 points (10+10) in 23 playoff matches. He also scored six goals in the final series against Edmonton.
