They have trained for eleven months to play this type of match, so it's not fun, says club manager Jakob Kaufmann to Nya Lidköpings-Tidningen.
The duo was not present when the reigning champion team on Monday secured their seventh consecutive SM final via 10–3 against Västerås SK in the fifth and decisive semifinal. Säfström and Pherson were suspended for two matches by the association's disciplinary board for incidents in the fourth semifinal at the weekend.
In the two situations, which are actually the same sequence, I don't think you can prove anything, says Kaufmann.
In one case, it was the referees who reported to the disciplinary board, in the other case it was the opponent Västerås.
Let it stand for them. I wouldn't have done the same thing. It's hard when associations start doing it. We can take situations from every match and go in and report. Then it becomes mudslinging, says Jakob Kaufmann.
The club manager had hopes for a positive decision from Rin before the SM final, where Edsbyn awaits, but the suspensions stand firm and Erik Säfström and Felix Pherson will have to follow the final in Västerås from the stands.
It's clear that it's a real shame. You've trained all year and then when it's time to decide, you're not allowed to be there, says Säfström to Nya Lidköpings-Tidningen.
