The survey includes all reports from healthcare and health centers throughout the country that have caused or risked causing serious healthcare-related harm in 2025.
In total, 121 of the more than 300 reports relate to investigations and diagnoses of cancerous tumors, especially in the stomach and intestines, that took a long time.
One reason is that these types of tumors can be difficult to detect, according to Henrik Ahlin, chief physician in Karlskoga.
The symptoms can mimic other conditions and diagnoses, and this can lead investigations down the wrong path, he tells Ekot.
