On Tuesday, Örebro ruined the promotion party by defeating Degerfors 2–1 in the local derby in Superettan.
On Sunday, Örebro could have offered again by taking points against Öster, which would have secured Degerfors' Allsvenskan advancement.
Instead, Öster won 1–0 and moved up to second place, on the same points as third-place Landskrona. They are six points behind Degerfors with two rounds left to play.
It's very tight up there. Superettan is what it is, there are no easy matches, now it's full focus on the last two matches, says Öster's Sebastian Hedlund to TV4 Play.
The two top teams in Superettan will play in the top division next year, third place will have to qualify.
"Satt perfekt"
David Seger scored Öster's and the match's only goal in the 28th minute when he hit a real gem that went into the left corner.
It sat perfectly, really nice, says Seger to TV4 Play.
In the second half, Örebro pushed hard, but Öster's defense fought well. In the ninth minute of added time, Örebro got a free kick just outside the penalty area, but it was shot over. At the same time, Öster's center back Mattis Adolfsson was sent off.
At Påskbergsvallen in Varberg, two teams met, Varberg and Degerfors, who really wanted to win, but above all wanted to avoid a loss.
A draw feels pretty fair. It wasn't what we aimed for today, but it was still an important point, says Degerfors' Sebastian Ohlsson to TV4 Play.
He says the team didn't go all out for three points at the end of the match.
We knew this point was important and didn't want to sacrifice too many people forward, says Ohlsson.
One point is enough
One more point in the last two matches is enough for Degerfors. The next chance will be the tough top match against Landskrona on Saturday.
For Varberg, the point was also important to avoid getting into the relegation battle. Right now, they are two points above the relegation spot.
It was a bit of a unclear ending, you didn't know if you should go for it or be careful with the point, says Varberg's Hampus Zackrisson to TV4 Play.
Now it's a week's loading up to the next match against Sandviken. Hopefully, we can relax after that.
