The Russian, world number eight in tennis, started the match in Paris with a bang, winning the first set 6–3.

Perhaps Chwalinska was overwhelmed by the success she had enjoyed in recent weeks at Roland Garros. The Pole lost her form while Andreeva picked up the pace, winning 6–2 in the second set.

Maja is a very skilled player and I really hope we meet again, says the 19-year-old Russian.

It is Mirra Andreeva's first Grand Slam title in her career and for that she is rewarded with 30 million kronor.

It's a special moment, a dream for me, says the champion.
