Mira Jungåker criticises referees after Sweden’s 5-1 loss to Canada at Women’s World Cup

The Women's Crowns lost their World Cup debut 1-5 to favourites Canada in Herning, Denmark. Defender Mira Jungåker criticised the referees. “They’re sloppy throughout the match,” Jungåker told SVT after two periods.

After two periods, Canada led 4-0. The Women's Crowns had been penalised six times, including Nicole Hall, and had conceded two goals while shorthanded.

That made Jungåker see red.

We have such a great team spirit, and it's incredibly sad that it's ruined because you call some really cheap penalties and then you don't call anything. You don't know what to do, she told SVT.

Jungåker was also involved in the Women's Crowns' consolation goal, making it 1-4. While shorthanded, she sent the puck off the crossbar, and Hanna Thuvik scored from the rebound.

The Women's Crowns will next face Finland on Sunday.
