During Thursday morning, the news arrived that the Portuguese national team player Diogo Jota and his brother had died in a car accident.

Now Uefa (European Football Association) confirms that there will be a minute of silence before Thursday's and Friday's matches in the women's European Championship. The message means that there will be a minute of silence before Sweden's European Championship premiere against Denmark on Friday evening.

It was the Portuguese Football Association that submitted a request to Uefa for a minute of silence before the country's European Championship premiere against Spain on Thursday evening.

Portugal's national team, which meets Spain tonight, will play with mourning bands.
