The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against non-essential travel to the entire Democratic Republic of the Congo and all travel to certain parts due to the security situation.
The fighting between the country's military and the rebel group M23 is intensifying, and the UN is warning that a regional war could break out.
The areas that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not recommend visiting at all are the provinces of Ituri, Tanganyika, Kasaï, Kasaï Central, Maniema, Haut Uélé, Nord- and Sydkivu, with the exception of the provincial capital Bukavu in Sydkivu.
You should also avoid border areas with South Sudan and the Central African Republic up to 50 kilometers from the border.
This applies until further notice.
