Canada's Culture Minister Steven Guilbeault resigns in protest against an agreement between the government and the province of Alberta to build a new oil pipeline.
In a statement, he says he strongly opposes the venture.
Guilbeault, who was previously the environment minister under Justin Trudeau, has been a clear advocate for reducing the country's emissions.
The resignation marks the first crisis for Mark Carney's government since the prime minister was sworn in in March.
