In a conversation with British journalist Piers Morgan, recorded shortly after he landed in the UK, Yiannopoulos recounts how he was handcuffed and shackled during his arrest in Louisiana and was afraid.

At the time of his detention, Yiannopoulos had received several warnings that he had overstayed his visa and failed to appear at immigration court hearings, The Guardian writes, citing information from the US Department of Homeland Security.
Regrets his support
As recently as last year, Yiannopoulos expressed support for Donald Trump’s promised mass deportations of “millions and millions” of people who have entered the United States illegally. On X, a platform he had previously been banned from, he wrote that California should have ICE checkpoints at supermarkets, gas stations, shopping malls, intersections, and government buildings.
Now the former MAGA influencer regrets supporting Trump, whom he describes as "controlled by some of the most unstable and crazy people."
To imagine that the joy, hope and anticipation that surrounded Trump in 2016 could collapse into this ugly and warmongering in ten years, says Yiannopoulos.
If I had any idea that anything even remotely like this was possible, I would never have supported Trump... I am very ashamed that I did.

Milo Yiannopoulos, who has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, left his post as editor at the far-right website Breitbart in 2017 after a highly criticized statement that could be interpreted as defending pedophilia.
Before that, he had been criticized for racist statements and white supremacist posts, and in 2019 he was permanently banned from Facebook.
In recent years, the 41-year-old has worked for Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, when she was in the House of Representatives. Taylor Greene was long one of Donald Trump's main supporters in Congress, but broke with the president after disagreements over the so-called Epstein documents.
Yiannopoulos has also been an advisor to Kanye West, who now calls himself Ye, when the rap star was considering a presidential candidacy.
