Sweden is hosting the 2026 European Youth Championship and the Swedish Basketball Federation writes that the gift "becomes an important enabler for our preparations and implementation of the 2026 European Youth Championship. At the same time, it strengthens Swedish basketball's journey towards hosting the 2027 European Championship for women in Sweden".
Swedish basketball has achieved great sporting successes as both the women's and men's national teams have qualified for the European Championship finals this summer.
Now, Swedish basketball is receiving a contribution to future talent development.
"Christer Gardell's gift is very significant for Swedish basketball. We are extremely happy. It strengthens Swedish basketball and creates new opportunities for our young players", says the Chairman of the Swedish Basketball Federation, Susanne Jidesten.
