"This means precious memories for us artists who lent out," writes artist Lisa Nilsson, whose silk evening gown she wore at the Crown Princess's wedding was one of the stolen items.
The items and objects were part of the exhibition "Extas - The Swedish diva worshiped by Robert Fux" where about 60 well-known Swedish artists were honored. At the exhibition, visitors could, among other things, view opera legend Christina Nilsson's death mask, Zarah Leander's collected hair and stage costumes belonging to Greta Garbo, Leila K, and drag artist Elecktra.
The exhibition took place during the spring, and when the items and objects were to be returned to their owners last Wednesday, they were stolen from the subcontractor's car.
"The embroidered silk evening gown signed Camilla Thulin is one of several stolen stage costumes. Malena Ernman's La Voix - dress is another," writes Lisa Nilsson on social media.
High emotional value
Thomas Hägg, communications officer at Millesgården, does not want to say how great the value of what was stolen was, but emphasizes that the emotional value cannot be replaced.
- The lenders think it's very sad, of course, to lose items that have meant a lot to them in different ways, says Thomas Hägg to TT.
Even though the stolen goods were shown to the public during the exhibition, Hägg does not believe that the break-in was planned.
We believe it was just bad luck, unfortunately, he says.
Appeal to followers
The items and objects are insured, and the artists whose items and objects were stolen will be compensated financially.
The theft has been reported to the police, and Hägg says that they from Millesgården's side will keep an eye on buy-and-sell sites, something that Lisa Nilsson urges her followers on social media to do as well.
