The USA announces that a new military support package of 375 million dollars – approximately 3.8 billion kronor – will be sent to Ukraine. The support includes an unspecified number of cluster bombs and several types of rockets, according to high-ranking officials.
The package also includes urgently needed ammunition for Ukraine, as well as mine protection and armor-reinforced materials.
According to officials, war materials will be taken from the Pentagon's storage facilities to expedite delivery.
The official announcement is expected to come during the ongoing general debate in the UN General Assembly, where the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a main topic.
Many heads of state and government are in New York and the UN headquarters during the general assembly's debate. One of them is Volodymyr Zelenskyj, who will give a speech in the general assembly and meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington DC.
