It barely took seven minutes into the first period before New York Rangers' Swedish center star – in a numerical superiority – sent in a well-directed wrist shot from the right face-off circle.
This set the tone for the match and two more goals signed by Rangers followed. The match ended 3–2, and Buffalo was served its eighth consecutive loss.
Mika Zibanejad's goal became the Swede's 300th in his NHL career. Playing more offensively has been a deliberate strategy, he says to reporters after the match.
Generally, if you look at the last four, five, six matches, it feels like I've been shooting more, he says.
During the match against Buffalo, Zibanejad slung a total of five shots at the opponent's goal.
I've been trying to be more on the attack, he says and adds:
This is something I want to do more, I think it opens up the game more. So personally, I'll just keep shooting at the goal, he says.
