A music rights company has bought almost the entire song catalog of the American jazz musician Miles Davis, ahead of the 100-year anniversary next year.

The artist's estate has sold 90 percent of Davis's publishing rights and revenues from his catalog to Reservoir media, writes Pitchfork.

Next year, Miles Davis would have turned 100 years old – and Reservoir media is now also revealing several plans for how it will be observed. Among other things, there will be a film about the artist's relationship with the French singer Juliette Gréco, with Mick Jagger as one of the producers.

Additionally, Miles Electric Band will go on an international tour, and there will be a four-day celebration in San Francisco.

Reservoir media also owns, among other things, Snoop Dog and Joni Mitchell's song catalogs.
