Mikel Arteta has been Arsenal’s head coach since 2019. Last season was his most successful to date, as he led the club to the Premier League title and a place in the Champions League final.
The 44-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of the current season.
“This club is unique, with its character and the way it makes you feel, and I feel incredibly privileged that our journey together can continue,” he says in a statement on the club’s website.
According to the BBC, the Spaniard will receive a substantial pay rise. He currently earns around 130 million kronor (about $12.4 million) a year.
Sweden national team star Viktor Gyökeres plays for Arsenal.
