That's what Mike Pence, who was Donald Trump's vice president during his first term, tells CNN:
If the last three years have taught us anything, it's that Vladimir Putin doesn't want peace – he wants Ukraine.
In the CNN interview, Pence also comments on the chaotic meeting between Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj at the White House earlier this year, a meeting that the former vice president describes as "regrettable".
At the same time, he is significantly more optimistic about the mineral agreement between the USA and Ukraine, which, according to Pence, sends a "deafening message to Moscow" that Washington and Kyiv intend to cooperate for a foreseeable period of time.
