Six people have died in a fatal crash during a police chase outside the Bulgarian coastal city of Burgas.
A total of ten people were in the car that was being chased, nine of whom were migrants who had entered the EU illegally, according to Bulgarian media.
Border police began following the car on the road that runs from the EU border to Turkey, which runs a few kilometers south of Burgas. An intense chase ended when a spike mat was laid out and the car overturned into a lake, according to the police account.
Three migrants and the Romanian driver survived the accident and are receiving treatment. The driver will be questioned by police, state radio BNR reports.
