Ten Chinese citizens and a Serb are reported to have been on board when the vessel capsized during the night, about nine miles northwest of Belgrade.
According to information in local media, it was a group of Chinese migrants who attempted to enter the EU illegally, with the help of the Serbian man.
Serbia is one of the primary transit countries for the "Balkan route", from where many migrants attempt to enter the EU countries Croatia, Hungary or Romania.
