The warmth that is expected to reach Sweden over the current weekend is expected to have moved on before next week's celebrations. But with 10 days remaining, there are still some uncertainties regarding the weather forecast for Midsummer.

It is a fairly extensive high-pressure system that is located over Continental Europe, so the big question for Midsummer is how far north this high-pressure system will extend over Sweden. It is mainly in that area that we expect it to be dry and sunny, says meteorologist Linus Karlsson at SMHI.

According to SMHI, the high-pressure system appears to extend over the southern parts of the country, and the temperature is expected to be around 16 and 18 degrees at 2 pm on Midsummer Eve.

Most of the material suggests that it may not be a very warm Midsummer, but possibly around 20 degrees in the south, says Karlsson.

But those who have chosen to celebrate Midsummer on the west coast may need to steel themselves for cooler temperatures.

It looks like it will be north-northwesterly winds and that will keep the temperature a bit lower along the west coast, explains Karlsson.

In northern Sweden, the forecast is a bit more uncertain, and the temperature is expected to be around 15 degrees.

Even there, it appears to be possible to be a bit drier, but possibly showers in the afternoon, says Karlsson.
