Software giant Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella spent the Thanksgiving weekend coding and designing his own app to analyze his favorite sport, cricket.

At a company event in Bangalore, India on Thursday, Nadella talked about how he combined his two passions, cricket and technology, when designing his app.

He has already used it to select a team of the greatest players of all time in Indian cricket.

"It was amazing," Nadella said.

Nadella will likely be able to get more use out of the app because he has invested in cricket teams.

He is part of a consortium that paid £147 million for a 49 percent stake in the British team London Spirit. He is also a co-owner of the Seattle Orcas, a professional cricket team based near Microsoft's headquarters.
