The report showed earnings per share of $4.74. Analysts had expected earnings per share of $4.24, according to research firm LSEG, CNBC reports.
Total revenue was $90 billion, compared with expectations of around $87.6 billion.
Revenue for Microsoft's cloud service Azure increased by 43 percent during the quarter, the fastest growth for the segment since 2022, according to Bloomberg.
In after-hours trading, Microsoft's stock had risen 2 percent 20 minutes after the stock market closed.
