It is Rohrwacher's first English-language feature film, and Jagger is joined by Dakota Johnson, Josh O'Connor, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley and Isabella Rossellini in the cast. Filming is underway on the island of Stromboli, north of Sicily.
Mick Jagger, who turns 83 this summer, is best known as the frontman of the legendary Rolling Stones, but has also had a dozen film roles. Among other roles, he played a decadent rock star in the 1970s film "Performance" and a bounty hunter in the 1992 cult science fiction film "Freejack".
The Rolling Stones will release their new album "Foreign Tongues" on July 10.
