The boy weighed 115 kilograms when he died in November 2025 as a result of an enlarged and weakened heart, American media reports.
The boy, who was nonverbal, did not attend school and was bedridden. According to the indictment, he was not given proper food and his parents did not seek medical care for their son.
The couple are charged with second-degree murder, a slightly lesser category of murder under U.S. law. They are also charged with torture and three counts of child neglect, one of which involves the boy's sister. If convicted, the couple face life in prison.
